Why Philosophy + Film is different, a limited-time discount—and more FULL scholarships
Gracious reader,
Happy Memorial Day!
I wanted to take a moment to share with you the facet of CR’s new course, Philosophy + Film, that I’m most excited about.
(Learn more about the details of Philosophy + Film, as well as FAQ’s.)
Instead of me merely writing and then reading a lecture to you, I’m teaming up with some of the wisest, most interesting and most thoughtful people in my life—people who have also been highly formative in my intellectual development or my intellectual life.
The lecture component of the course will be in the form a discussion with these people—to the end of a more interesting and enjoyable learning experience for you.
For example, in this course, I’ll have discussions with:
My father, Ned Vankevich: a film historian, an award-winning author and film maker, producer, cinematographer, and expert in film criticism, and the person who first taught em the value and beauty of the life of the mind.
My favorite professor from college, Cal Townsend: the professor I took the most classes from throughout my college career, the person who showed me the terror and beauty in great books, the person who helped cultivate my love of wisdom and ideas during those formative years.
My husband, Kian Hudson: my most reliable intellectual sparring partner, as well as the most curious person and greatest conversationalist I know—and a film buff to boot.
This course is deeply personal to me. We’ll be exploring texts and watching films that helped me see the world more clearly and that enriched my life, guided by people who showed me why the life of the mind was the highest life in the first place.
I know that you’ll find value in dedicating time to these texts, films, ideas and conversations, so I hope you’ll consider joining us!

The best relationships, after all, are not those fixated on one another—but those that are those grounded around a shared love of learning.
As Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, the author of the Little Prince, wrote, “Love does not consist of gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction.”
And remember, registration for Philosophy + Film closes Wednesday, June 1!
It is also 100% RISK FREE! Even if you take the whole course, if you’re unhappy for any reason, you will receive a full refund.
Scholarships available!
Resources should NEVER be a barrier to enjoying the fruits of the life of learning and the mind.
That’s why we have scholarships available—but they are going quickly!
We’ve already given a number of them away, so write to me now with your interest in joining this course on a scholarship at ah@alexandraohudson.com
