Philosophy + Film FAQ
Frequently asked questions about CR's newest course, available for a limited time NOW!
Gracious reader,
Regardless of what level of schooling you’ve achieved in your life, a fact remains: a person’s education is never complete—even if our formal schooling is.
After our formal schooling has concluded, however, a number of questions arise:
How do we keep learning?
How do we make time for it all?
Where do we begin?
I hope to address these first two questions in my next book—a case for autodidact-ism and lifelong learning.
As for the last question—where can we begin our life of learning after the end of our formal schooling?
This is where Civic Renaissance’s newest course, Philosophy + Film, comes in!
Francis Bacon once wrote, “Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested.”
Bacon is right.
Not all texts are created equal.
Some are more worthy of our time than others.
The same is true for film. While there are great movies and shows made these days, our time is so valuable, it’s worth it to focus on those that have particularly explosive power to reveal to us new insights into the human condition, and to help us lead better and more meaningful lives.
Life is too short to waste our time on books of movies that don’t make our lives better.
That is why, in Philosophy + Film, we are focusing exclusively on philosophical texts and films that have earned their place on the mantle of greatness for a reason.
I hope you’ll consider investing in yourself and in your own lifelong education and consider joining us for an intellectual adventure like no other.
To anticipate any questions you might have, I’ve included an FAQ below.
